Greg's Wedding

"Man down - Man down". That is the typical joke from the single guys when a buddy gets married. However, in Greg's case, it is all good as they are both happy and a perfect fit for each other. Other than Janelle being a Redskins fan and Greg getting dropped on his head as a baby and being a cowboys fan. But I am sure their minister has been helping them with that! :)

First of all, it was at a very nice country club mansion. Had that "old school money" feel to it and its was very nice, tasteful, and really well kept. Here as some pics of the place.
It was a beautiful day. High 80's and the sun was bright and right on us. Not normally a problem, but the minister was a bit late. A lot late. So we all got a little extra sun in. A lot of folks wore black or dark outfit (mostly guys) and it got real hot. After 15-20 minutes, Pat got the bright idea to stand under the tree and search for shade. That started the stampede and next thing you know, 10-15 folks were with us. We hung out, talked to Greg's family and friends, and waited for the minister to arrive. Here is a picture of Pat.
Next thing you know, the music changes and we scatter for our seats. Greg with his best man, and his lovely bride to be, Jenelle. with her father.

The wedding went along with out a hitch. The inside of the mansion was nice and bright and open. Being the dork I am , I forgot to charge my camera, so that's about it for the pictures.

The rest of the afternoon was great. A very nice reception, followed by dinner, drinks, dancing and everyone had a great time. The wedding party all did funny dancing on the way in and it was a hit. We stayed pretty much to the end. Not sure about that garter belt thing! Jenelle is a big redskins fan. So there may have been some trickery in that. I will have to talk to her and see after they get back from their honeymoon.

Greg will surely have more pictures when he returns.

It was one of the nicest weddings I have attended and both Greg and Jenelle (mostly Jenelle Greg says) did a terrific job and performed the planning and work themselves. It was a work of love and it showed.

Is True!

Week 2 - Can we do it?

Yes. Two weeks at the beach is awsoom. the first week is getting settled, groceries, etc. Plus the days of driving there, unpacking, etc. You really have to learn to relax. Here is Rusty honing his skills.

and just chilling to see if we can go for a walk.

Back to Normal

Woke up to a fabulous morning. Bright and shinny and sunny. Looks like it will be a nice and hot day. The surf is still a little high, but that is ok.

The Weekend

Turned out pretty nice. Saturday was hot and sunny and the surf action was great. I spent the time watching football and Nascar and got a little sun. Pat got a lot of sun and watched no TV. We both drank a number of adult beverages. A perfect compromise.

Sunday was overcast and rainy in the AM. The sun came out in the afternoon and the surf was very rough and the rip tide was dangerous. We spent the day in and out and I again watched a lot of football. My fantasy teams were killed and I need to look on the wire for some new players.

Rough Water

Today is a beautiful day. Nice and hot in the AM. We chilled on the deck for a few hours and are now watching the surf come in. It has picked up and the surf is rough and white-capping. There is a storm out in the atlantic and hopefully will not grow. But something is up.

Wrightsville Beach

Cruzed over to the Wilmington yesterday and checked out Wrightsville beach. Its a cool little beach. Mostly younger folks. Lets of surfers (and surfer girls). We dined at a cool place on the beach with a pier and watched the sun set. It was really nice. Pat's friend "V" joined us. Here are the two after a bloody Mary or two.

Finally - Starting to Relax

It has been tough. But Gracie has it all figured out and we are following her lead.

Labor Day

Let there be no labor

For some reason, we got up @ 8AM. I am not sure why? But a call later and a friend of Pat's from Wilmington will be by to spend the day.

Pat loves the place. It is a small single level house right smack dab on the beach. Very "cute" to quote Pat. She spent the AM completing the nesting process.

V and Ellie spent the day hanging out. Ellie never left the dogs and clearly wants a dog of her own. We spent the afternoon on the deck and having some drinks and food.

We finished it off with sandwiches from a great NY style deli and watching the sun set.

Ellie threw a fit leaving. Saying goodbye to the dogs seems hard for her.

On the Road Again

On the road again. Here we go.

We left 2 hours later than planned. Around 11AM. We had to pick up the keys by 5:30PM and the trip takes 6 hours. The Nav keep saying 5:32 arrival time with no stops. So we were freaking a little, but called and they have a lock box for late arrivals. That's us.

Anyway we got here @ 5:20PM with 3 stops. One leak break for the dogs, one to fill up on fuel, and a third to drive through for lunch.

After unloading the car, went to the beer store and then after drinking a beer and checking out the beach, went to the grocery store to load up. Life is good!

Wally World

Getting the Walkers to the beach is similar to "family vacation", but with 2 dogs getting to the beach alive! Pat packs tons of stuff. This year, I picked up a cool top carrier for her Vue.

It holds three large duffel bags. So we were able to put all our bedding, cloths, and even a "Shoe" duffel bag in it. Yes, we have enough shoes for a year. Being a guy, I could do with two shoes. Sneakers and flip flops. But that is me.
